The Uncommon Penthouse

the uncommon penthouse

The goal of this expansive and open space was to make it cozy, comfortable, and eccentric. The client gave full creative control to Haider Design Group. They wanted the home to feel sophisticated and playful. It is rare that we get to use colour as freely as we did at this project and I took full advantage. Each space told a unique story that was tied together through the use of colour, artwork, and texture to draw the eye around each environment.

The kitchen was existing when we came into the project, so we updated the hardware to create contrast and to warm up the high gloss kitchen. In addition, every light in the home was changed. The lighting played a big role in creating an airy feel but also drawing your eye up for a moment.

The ‘Blue Room’ was anything but blue, it was dynamic, comfortable, and playful. The Venetian plaster wall mirrored the shapes found in the skyline outside the opposing window. The furniture was textural and played off the colours found on the wall. Everything in the space was moody and inviting, there was a real juxtaposition or tension that also was a calming force in the space.
